Wunder Crumble Café

In-House Design Team

Lighting that brings people together.

At Wunder Crumble, every design decision was centred around creating a café that feels warm, memorable and instantly recognisable. The brief called for feature pendants that would become part of the café's identity — a handcrafted aesthetic that encourages guests to slow down, stay longer, and reach for their camera.

The Brief

  • A memorable lighting feature visible throughout the café
  • Warm pools of light above the dining tables
  • A handcrafted aesthetic reflecting the café's values
  • A design moment guests would want to photograph

Artisan Light Project introduced handcrafted Brass Thali Pendants, inspired by traditional South Asian serving platters. Each thali is individually hand-hammered before being finished into a contemporary pendant in the UK — natural variations mean no two fixtures are ever quite alike.

The Details

  • Hand-finished aged brass plates, hand-hammered by artisan Afzal in Lahore
  • Olive green braided cable, colour-matched to the café's palette
  • Warm white LED lamps for soft, atmospheric light
  • Assembled and certified in the UK for commercial hospitality use

The Result

Installed above the main seating area, the pendants have become one of Wunder Crumble's defining features — a detail guests regularly notice, photograph and ask about.

Why This Matters

Every Brass Thali Pendant begins in artisan Afzal's Lahore workshop, where his family has shaped brass by hand for generations, before travelling to the UK for assembly, testing and certification — preserving traditional craftsmanship while creating sustainable work for artisan families.

Products Used

“Working with Artisan Light Project allowed us to create exactly the atmosphere we had envisioned. The handcrafted Brass Thali Pendant Lights have become one of the defining features of Wunder Crumble, bringing warmth, character and authenticity to our hospitality interior. Guests regularly comment on the lighting, and it has become one of the most photographed elements of the café. We couldn't be happier with the craftsmanship, attention to detail and overall quality.”
